Welcome to The Art of JOHN CRAWFORD!

Art has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. I remember as a child of about 5 going shopping for Christmas decorations with my Mom, and at the checkout she bought me a Christmas coloring book, and that humongous box of crayolas!! What kid really needs a copper, bronze, AND pewter colored crayon, I’m not sure, but it had a sharpener in the back, and how cool was that!? I spent the entire day laying on the floor, listening to Xmas music and coloring. That’s the first time I remember the world around me literally disappearing and kind of transcending to another plane of existence (no foolin).

From there, I soon graduated to drawing "The Master Cylinder" from Felix the Cat. Ok. ok, he was just a can with eyebrows and mechanical claws, but he was MY can! And then Johnny Socco’s flying robot, over and over and over again, and of course, Batman! Then I discovered my neighbors GIANT barrel of Creepy, Eerie, and Warren publishing magazines in his garage – just crawling with the coolest Sci Fi and horror illustrations I had ever seen! And of course, Vampirella! I went all the way to the bottom of the barrell!!

But, time marches on and interests change. Charlie’s Angels had a way of taking a kid, going through puberty, away from his drawing pad now and again (and the infamous Farrah Fawcet nipple poster hanging in my room didn’t help).

"Go away mom...I’m...um...doing my homework" "Ill be out of the bathroom in a minute Dad...um...I’m brushing my teeth", Many years go by, and the appreciation of beautiful women having only grown, and art having found its way back into my life (Via Joe Quesada, Alphonse Mucha, Michael Kaluta, Mike Mignola, and just to many artists to even name!) I’m fortunate enough to be able to meld my two greatest passions together as you can see here with some examples of my Pin-up work.

Thanks for taking the time to visit, please do drop by again, as I’ll be working on some new stuff soon. And thanks for all the support of the art lovers, my peers out there on the web who inspire me to do better work, and last but certainly not least, the women, who to quote a line from As Good as it Gets, "You’re the reason cavemen drew on walls!"

Stay well.
