April
3rd, 2009 ARTIST MATT BUSCH NAMED SPOKESPERSON
FOR
KONXARI CARDS
The
IRM Foundation has announced that the official spokesperson
for Konxari Cards is pop culture artist extraordinaire, Matt
Busch. Mostly know for his work on Hollywood properties, Busch
has made a nitch in the fandom world with his outgoing presence
with zany video tutorials that have exploded on the web and
DVD. Says Busch, "I normally would never be interested
in being a spokesperson for someone else's product, but Konxari
Cards are just way too creepy cool."
Described
as a cross between Tarot Cards and a Ouija Board, the Konxari
is sure to take fans and paranormal enthusiasts by storm,
allegedly giving people the ability to communicate with the
'other side'. Pronounced kon-zar-ee, the cards are said to
have been created by the ancients as a form of Cartomancy.
Now Konxari is offered as a set of 88 playing cards; a handy
tool for those looking for a ghost hunt, séance, or
spooked-out slumber party. The game is designed for 2 or more
players, where after flipping a certain number of cards, the
photos, symbols, and letters are assessed and interpreted
as a message from the spirit world. The idea is to find ways
to help agitated souls seeking resolution, so they can finally
rest in peace and leave you alone.
The
supernatural aside, Konxari Cards boast an incredible collection
of award-winning photographer Paul Michael Kane's otherworldly
images. Despite the fact that many of the photos appear to
show impossible or metaphysical imagery, Kane swears that
no PhotoShop was used. "The decision was made early on
to let the images be subtle and not do any clichéd
digital effects." comments Kane, "While I did use
a number of physical slight-of-hand or in-camera tricks, there
is no digital slicing, layers, or alterations of any kind."
Knowing this makes the photos all the more impressive, and
unsettling.
While
spokesperson Busch is recognized for his work with mainstream
properties like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Witchblade,
he is quick to show his darker side. States Busch, "I
have always been obsessed with the paranormal. I'm as skeptical
as anyone, but I'm fascinated with the unknown." In 2001,
Busch wrote an illustrated a comic book, Alizarin's Jounal,
for Avatar Press; a story in which a paranormal investigator
seeks answers from beyond. In 2006, Busch released his first
feature length movie on DVD, Conjure, which was distributed
by Razor Digital. The low-budget movie was a supernatural
thriller and became the highest preselling movie of all time,
according to HorrorMovies.com.
Currently,
Busch gets to utilize the Konxari himself, being an adjunct
Paranormal Investigator for P.R.I.S.M., the Paranormal Research
and Informational Society of Michigan. "The cards are
really unique, creepy, and will provide a lifetime of entertainment.
In addition to being an incredible asset to your ghost-hunting
experience, you'll never get tired of getting spooked by the
messages you receive." Says Busch, "And with the
wavering economy, a complete game with everything you need
for only fifteen bucks is a steal." While the card game
is sure to flourish in pop culture's already-huge love affair
with all things ghost-hunting, you can expect to see Konxari
Cards as the next household card game right next to Magic:
The Gathering and Uno.
